Avital Krasilovsky, owner of A Vital Beauty Photo in Jericho and graduate of Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School, is a photographer specializing in boudoir, maternity and beauty portraits of women.
Having been shooting for over ten years, Krasilovsky began focusing on beauty portraits of women in 2008. A photography graduate from The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Krasilovsky lived in New York City for 12 years before moving to Jericho when she married her high school sweetheart.
“I aim to fuse fine art aesthetic with portraiture to create one of a kind art pieces of each client, something they could never get from someone else,” Krasilovsky said.
Over the years, Krasilovsky has won a variety of photo contests and her work has been published in various outlets such as CameraArts Magazine, The New York Post, and People.com.
“I had been shooting a variety of subject matter, from architecture to celebrity events, but when a friend asked me to do photos of her for her fiancé as a grooms gift, I was hooked. It was an amazing gift for him and an empowering experience for her,” Krasilovsky said. The business transitioned and grew from there, I started to photograph pregnant women, mother/daughter portraits, and women in any sort of transition or looking to celebrate something like weight loss or a 50th birthday – I love the opportunity to help women experience their own beauty.”
Krasilovsky says her portraits shoots ‘be it beauty, boudoir or maternity,’ and are ‘always a cherished and unique gift, and an amazing record of you now.’
“Clients leave feeling an empowering confidence boost, with an experience and photos that can be cherished forever,” Krasilovsky said. “Most women start by saying: ‘Im not photogenic, I have never done anything like this before and I’m self conscious about.’ It is an amazing feeling to wow them with themselves – when they come to view their photos they are always amazed and say: ‘I can believe that is me.’”
Following the photos completion, Krasilovsky says her client’s biggest issue by then is how to edit down the images.
“My studio is residential, private, cozy and comfortable, I believe this sets the tone for the special attention, great service and quality products they will receive, one of a kind and custom, unlike the large factory-like studios,” Krasilovsky said.
“The hardest thing for people is to know what to do in front of the camera. I tell them the whole way through exactly what to do and what will be the most flattering angle and position.”
