Summer Picnic
Temple B’nai Torah, 2900 Jerusalem Avenue and Oakfield Avenue, in Wantagh is holding their annual rain or shine picnic on Friday, Aug. 30. Bring your favorite picnic meal, blanket or beach chairs at 6:30 p.m. and join in the celebration of Shabbat.

The annual Main Street Mile, by Runner’s Edge will be held on Aug. 31 from 9 to 11 a.m. along Main Street in Farmingdale.
Selichot Celebration
Temple B’nai Torah of Wantagh and Temple Beth Am of Merrick invite the community to screen the 1989 Woody Allen classic Crimes and Misdemeanors starring Woody Allen, Martin Landau, and Claire Bloom at Temple B’nai Torah at 2900 Jerusalem Avenue, in Wantagh, to celebrate Selichot, or Days of Forgiveness on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. The evening begins with Havdalah followed by the film and a discussion on how it relates to the holiday and desert.
Old Time Music Weekend
Popular music of the Civil War period will be performed at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration on Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 1, while visitors learn traditional 1800s contra dancing and listen to the sounds of a military brass band. Call 516-572-8400 for information.

Parade proceeds to Main Street, making left, crossing Route 109, right on Motor Avenue to Allen park.
