The Hicksville Water District Board of Commissioners Chairman Nicholas Brigandi would like to assure the Hicksville community that the Hicksville Water District has taken the necessary precautionary measures to protect the community’s drinking water supply in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster. Last year service remained uninterrupted during Superstorm Sandy and water quality was unaffected.
“At the Hicksville Water District our customers are always top of mind, and we have taken an active role in preparing ourselves for a hurricane or natural disaster,” said Chairman Brigandi. “The District is prepared for extreme weather conditions and ensures that the Hicksville community will receive quality water.”
In the event of a natural disaster, the District’s staff and water plants are well prepared. The District has put together an emergency response plan with the Department of Health to efficiently serve the community. The District has also made agreements with inter-municipal water suppliers across the state should emergency assistance be necessary. In addition to these agreements, the Hicksville Water District has standby generators at strategically placed water pumps, which are tested year-round. This guarantees that the District’s operations will remain uninterrupted even if Hicksville loses power.
“Maintaining our emergency resources is a main priority for the District,” added Chairman Brigandi. “While we always hope that we don’t have to use them we can rest assured that we are prepared to tackle any emergency we may face.”
