Stage Door Cup

For the second year in a row, Broadway Bound Dance Center (BBDC) of Garden City and Valley Stream has won the title of America’s Best Debut Dance Studio at the Access Broadway National Cup Series Championship in Hershey, PA. Directors Debbie Tavernese, Aileen Bjelland and Adam Bjelland were once again presented with the Stage Door Cup, which is on display at the studio until the start of the 2014 season, when it goes back on tour with Access Broadway. Broadway Bound’s Debut Division dancers range in age from 6 to 70 years. Seven different competition groups performed over twenty-five group numbers, including ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, vocal and acting.

Broadway Bound’s Company dancers also had great success, winning third place overall in the more advanced Diva Division, where they competed against 25 schools from all over the country. Many BBDC routines earned platinum adjudications, the highest possible award. BBDC group numbers were awarded first place trophies in tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet, lyrical, acro and hip-hop categories. In addition to their outstanding group numbers, the BBDC dancers impressed the judges and the audience with many winning solos, duets and trios. Broadway Bound offers a wide variety of classes in all styles, at both the recreational and competitive levels. BBDC dancers range from age 3 through age 70.
