Trojans Win Marching Band Invitational

Take top spot at competition

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Garden City High School commanded the football field at Manhasset High School which was filled with music, banners and parades of high school marching bands from all across Long Island. The stands were alive with spectators viewing the pageantry of each individual high school marching band performing in the battle of the bands. As host of the Third Annual Marching Band Invitational, Manhasset was not scored in the competition. Nevertheless, under the leadership of Randy Knudsen, Manhasset High School Marching Band is a four time New York State Group 1A Champion Marching who performed “Les Miserables.”

With the stands alive with cheering parents, friends, and team mates, the competition heated up and made fans go into a frenzy. The winner of the competition was Garden City High School with their maroon and gray uniforms playing “Descent into Madness.” Brandon Psenicka, Garden City High School Marching Band coach said

“The students of the marching band have worked incredibly had so far this season, I am proud of everything they have accomplished so far and can’t wait to see how far they can progress to the end of the season.” Other competing high schools included Herricks, Huntington, Oceanside and Roslyn.
