More than 350 friends and supporters of The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) gathered at the Garden City Hotel on Friday, Nov. 1 to raise money and awareness for the organization, which serves over 400,000 hungry and homeless Long Islanders every year. Co-chairs Kathie Eagan, Susan MacDonald and Lisa Arning, the latter two Garden City residents, helped raise $110,000 for the annual INN luncheon, breaking a record for the most money raised at this event in the last five years.
Award-winning News 12 Long Island anchor and INN supporter Carol Silva was the keynote speaker for the event and shared stories about covering The INN during the early years of the station. The event honored John King, founder and chief customer officer at J. Kings Food Service Professionals, Inc., one of the country’s top independently owned, broad-line food distribution businesses. King has supported The INN for the last six years in various capacities.
“It was a pleasure to see so many people who share our passion about serving those who are less fortunate,” said Event Co-Chair Kathie Eagan. “Our honoree John King is not only a successful businessman, but a kind and generous person. It was a natural fit to honor him at this event.”
