Holiday Army Truck/Tram Ride

Santa is coming to the American Airpower Museum in East Farmingdale on Nov. 30 and Dec. 14, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for truck rides around the Republic airfield. The event will also include hot chocolate, candy canes and a chance to get your picture taken with Santa Claus. Truck rides are $5 plus the cost of admission. Call 631-454-2039 for more details.

Village Board of Trustees Meeting

The Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees will hold its next public meeting on Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. at Village Hall on 361 Main St. 

 

Joe Belisi Day 

On Dec. 2, the Village of Farmingdale will commemorate the career of Nassau County legislator Joe Belisi with a special day in his honor.

Tree Lighting

The annual lighting of the tricentennial tree will be held on the village green at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with a rain date on Dec. 5.  Refreshments are immediately following in Village Hall, sponsored by the Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society.  

 

Airport Commission Meeting

The Republican Airport Commission will hold its next public meeting on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in Conference Room 201 of the Main Terminal.

The Farmingdale School District Board of Education will hold its next meeting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 4, at Howitt Middle School.

 

Math Workshop [3rd-5th]

Parents of students [grades 3 – 5] enrolled in the Farmingdale School District are invited to attend a workshop at the Howitt Middle School Library, providing an in-depth look at the mathematics curriculum that is being taught to students throughout the 2013-2014 school year.

Chamber’s Holiday Party

The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Carlyle on the Green at 5:30 p.m. This year, the Chamber will celebrate silver anniversary members, in honor of those with 25 years in Farmingdale.

First Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Gerngras Park

On Friday, Dec. 6, the Village of Farmingdale will hold its first ever tree lighting ceremony at Gerngras Park, on Staples Street at 6 p.m.

 

Chinese Auction

Help for people, a non-profit organization in Farmingdale, will be holding a Chinese auction on Friday Dec. 6, from 6:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., at Firemen’s Memorial Park in Lindenhurst Admission is $8 in advance, or $10 at the door, and includes one sheet of 25 raffle tickets. Raffle prizes include: Disney Park Hopper Passes, Basket of Cheer, Restaurant Gift Certificates, Themed Baskets and much more. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. 

 

Holiday Special at FUMC

Farmingdale United Methodist Church, located at 407 Main Street, will present two performances of the advent opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors” on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 2013. The hour-long opera, by Gian-Carlo Menotti, will be performed in English by professional singers, dancers and chorus under the direction of David Majoros, D.M.A., Music Director of FUMC. It’s charming story and colorful numbers make it perfect for children. Friday evening’s performance begins at 7:30pm and the Saturday matinee at 4:00pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be reserved by calling the church office at 516 694-3424.

St. Luke’s Christmas Tree Lighting

On Saturday, Dec. 7, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its 2nd annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. For more details visit stlukesfarmingdale.org. 

 

JC Cafe hosts Servants of the Shepherd

The JC Cafe at Farmingdale United Methodist Church on Main Street will host Servants of the Shepherd, a well-known contemporary Christian music group, to perform a variety of music including familiar Christmas hymns. Flap-Jack Breakfast for Alex

On Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the American Legion Post 449 in Farmingdale will sponsor a flap-jack breakfast at the Airport Plaza Applebee’s. The event is being held to benefit the son of one of the Legion’s members, Alex, a former Farmingdale EMS, and recovering cancer survivor.  Tickets cost $13.
