Alice In Wonderland At Library

alice“We’re all mad here! I’m mad, you’re mad!” Find out how mad the teens of Levels at the Great Neck Library truly are when they present their innovative production of Alice in Wonderland. Performances will be held on Friday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Levels at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. Admission is free.

Levels, the Great Neck Library’s cultural center for teenagers presents several theatrical productions a year, all directed, produced and performed by students seventh grade through college-age.

You may know the story, but you’ve never seen it like this. Levels’ Alice is a tale of a modern teenager facing the strange and illogical process of growing up. She dives down a rabbit hole into a world where logic is turned upside down…and realizes it’s not much different from her own world. The words are straight out of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (via the classic adaptation by Eva LeGallienne and Florida Friebus), but this production adds an original score by student Olivia Lundelius, unusual scenic and costume designs, projections, stage magic, blacklight, puppetry and more. Expect the unexpected!

South High senior Jasmine Krause, recently seen in Levels’ The Producers, makes her Levels directing debut, with South High sophomore Jonathan Schindler as choreographer. The production features costume design by Simona Fine, with lighting design by Nataly Cohen, publicity art by Kevin Garcia, makeup and hair design by Marissa Martino and Adi Sragovich, and puppetry design by Ben Weber. The cast of middle school and high school students includes Spencer Berman, Perry Choo, Christine Cimpian, Ricky Cole-Lauro, Max Cruz, Nicole Cruz, Jack Doremus, Simona Fine, Jasmine Guillen, Heather Han, Rebecca Hirschhorn, Marissa Martino, Nina Mor, Jonathan Schindler, Sarah Marie Schlenker, Zarabeth Senft, Adi Sragovich, Ally Weber and Ben Weber.

Tickets are free of charge, and are intended to guarantee seating. They can be requested at the Circulation Desk of your local Great Neck Library facility. For more information, call Levels at 516 466-8055, ext. 216. –From The Great Neck Library
