Every day, students, staff and visitors alike are welcomed to Manhasset Middle School by the grand painting of the Beatles. This project took two years in total planning, and consisted of students, administrators, faculty, support staff and members of the Manhasset community working together.
This collaborative effort has brightened the Middle School and given the hallway a special glow with its vibrant colors. The painting was conceived, designed and facilitated by Manhasset High School Teacher, Michael Sansone. The painting is divided into 140 individual squares.
The separate pieces were then matched together and mounted on a framework, creating a magnificent grand painting of the Beatles. It took three months for the collaborative work to be completed. Originally, the art work was exhibited on the third floor of the High School, and was unveiled June 23, 2010. However, it was just recently moved to the main floor, located near the attendance office, for easier viewing access.
The grand Beatles Painting was an incredible undertaking, that was truly a community wide endeavor aimed at enhancing the schools aesthetic beauty . Under the direction of Mr. Sansone, community members, students, faculty, and staff have participated in creating one of our most beautiful paintings in the Secondary School.
Doctor Dean Schlanger, Principal of Manhasset High School says it best, “It’s a painting that we treasure, and made sure that was properly preserved for many years to come. The next time you’re in the Middle School, be sure to stop by and see the beautiful Beatles painting.
