The St. Patrick’s CYO Track team is now looking forward to their 13th season and gearing up for registration. Last spring, the team competed in six meets throughout Long Island. In the fall, they competed in three more meets, including the CYO Fall Championship at Mitchell Field.
The fall Cross Country team had a great season, competing in several USATF Cross Country meets, and many runners qualified for the USATF Regional Championship in Wappingers Falls. One of the runners went on to compete at the Nationals in San Antonio, TX.
Registration takes place on Saturday, Jan. 18 (9 a.m. to noon) and Saturday, Jan. 25 (9 a.m. to noon), at the Parish Hall of St Patrick’s R.C. Church in Glen Cove. Boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade who live in Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Roslyn, Bayville, Locust Valley and surrounding communities are welcome to join. Cost: $95 new registration, $55 returning runners (if they do not need a new uniform).
Registration includes: uniform, 2014 Spring Track Season (six meets and weekly practice) and 2014 Fall Track (one meet and weekly practice) or Cross Country. Practices start on Saturday, March 29 at the Glen Cove High School track. Parent coaches and volunteers would be a great help; talk to the organizers at registration.
