Hicksville resident Warren Uss was recently appointed a Commissioner of the Hicksville Board of Water Commissioners for 2014.
“I am honored to serve as Chairman and excited for the year ahead,” said Uss. “We have made outstanding improvements in the last year by implementing a variety of infrastructure projects focusing on water quality and safety, and we look forward to building on that progress.”
Uss was appoineted during the Hicksville Water District’s Organizational Meeting on Jan. 14.
Uss is a third-generation and life-long resident of Hicksville. He is an active member of the Hicksville Fire Department for over 40 years. He is an Ex-Captain of Emergency Company Five and has served as chairman of numerous Department and Company committees during his membership as well as trustee and past president of the Hicksville Exempt Benevolent Association. Uss previously dedicated his time to coaching in the Hicksville Little League Baseball Association as well as coaching basketball for Trinity Lutheran Church in Hicksville. He and his wife Dianne, also a lifelong Hicksville resident, have one daughter, Alexandra Lynn.
Also at the Organizational Meeting, Commissioner Nicholas Brigandi was sworn into office for his 11th consecutive term as a Commissioner after being re-elected in a public election held at the end of last year. Brigandi will hold the position of secretary, and Commissioner Karl M. Schweitzer was appointed as treasurer.
“Our mission is to build on the continued trust and support from the Hicksville community,” said Uss. “The Board of Commissioners will continue to ensure that our community consistently receives clean, safe and affordable drinking water.”
