On Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m., the Albertson-based Viscardi Center will hold its 48th Annual Celebrity Sports Night.
The fundraising event provides guests with an opportunity to collect autographs from a variety of sports legends and celebrities. It is considered one of the premier events of its kind on Long Island as it raises funds to enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities. The event is attended by over 600 members of the corporate world, community leaders, philanthropic individuals and celebrity athletes and takes place on the campus of The Viscardi Center.
During the cocktail reception, guests are provided with an opportunity to collect autographs and speak with the celebrity and athlete attendees. A silent auction also takes place during the reception.
Dinner is followed by a live auction with several priceless experiences. Past athlete and celebrity participants include Joe Namath, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, Joe Theismann, Sean Landeta, Bud Harrelson, Mookie Wilson, Bobby Nystrom, Johnny Weir, Tai Babilonia, Randy Gardner, Jim Brown, Joe Frazier, Keith Hernandez, Boomer Esiason, Willie Mays, Walt Frazier, Lou Piniella, Stephen Baker, Karl Nelson, John Schmitt, Darryl Strawberry, among many other sports legends.
One of the evening’s highlights is an original performance, produced by Olympic Figure Skating Champion JoJo Starbuck, featuring students, athletes and celebrities.
