I have had the great privilege of serving the past 11 years as a trustee of the Village of East Hills, the beautiful community in which I grew up and where my wife and I are now raising our own family.
So it is with some sadness, but also great anticipation, that I say goodbye to the village government of East Hills and especially my mentor, Mayor Michael Koblenz, as I assume the responsibilities of North Hempstead Town Councilperson for District 2.
I would first like to tell the people of District 2 how thrilled I am to be serving you as your new Town Council representative. On Jan. 28, I was appointed by Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the town board to fill the seat of former Councilman Tom Dwyer, who represented District 2 with distinction for the past 12 years. I was honored to be chosen for this appointment following a lengthy screening process and I would like to particularly thank Supervisor Bosworth for her support and for recognizing my enthusiasm and commitment to serving the people of our town.
As an East Hills trustee, I represented over 7,000 residents and had the pleasure of working on behalf of a truly exceptional community that I cherish. As councilman, I will have the opportunity to use the experience I have gained in my village for the benefit of all the residents of District 2.
As I officially take office, I invite all residents of District 2 to contact my office at any time with your questions, concerns and ideas. I look forward to serving you.
Thank you.
Peter J. Zuckerman
District 2 North Hempstead Town Councilman
