The Port Washington Parent Resource Center was awarded a $1,500 grant from the Nassau County Bar Association’s We Care Fund to fund its Outreach Program.
The money will go toward the Outreach Program’s weekly Stepping Stones class, which provides educational experiences for children from low-income families with little or no access to prekindergarten programs. The grant will also support the Scholarship Fund which allows these children to take general Parent Resource Center classes. The classes include music, arts and crafts and science.
“We are grateful to the Nassau County Bar Association We Care Fund for the decision to award this grant,” said Leila Noor, director of development for the Parent Resource Center.
“The We Care Fund has been very generous to the Parent Resource Center over the years, which has greatly helped our Outreach Program and our low-income families,” Noor said. “Thanks to grants such as this, our children from low-income families are able to take some of our newest classes, such as Family Pre-K and Pee Wee Problem Solvers.
About 75 children enroll in the Outreach program each year.
