The Feb. 5 issue of Port News reported that Mr. Curtis Timko, chairman of Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington, was so presumptuous as to ask PSEG to halt its tree trimming and utility poles program until his organization and residents at a public meeting will tell PSEG how to implement both projects.
This is so disingenuous that it defies any an all logic because he and “Residents” have the temerity of telling PSEG how to take this critically remedial action for the benefit of all Port Washington residents.
It appears that Mr. Timko has a very short memory. He needs to be reminded of the havoc which countless untrimmed trees with fallen branches severed power lines during Sandy, subjecting most of us to be without power, without heat for the better part of 10 days.
Rather than pontificating his misguided message to PSEG, Mr. Timko should take a ride on Port Boulevard to see for himself how countless branches from virtually every tree rest perilously on the power lines. It’s just a matter of time for another major storm to create another blackout unless these trees are trimmed.
Hamstringing PSEG from doing this ASAP, Mr. Timko and his organization are, in the vernacular, burrowing their collective heads in the sand! Go to it PSEG!
