Syosset Woman Still Missing

Jasmine Joseph, a 22-year-old nursing student at New York Institute of Technology’s Old Westbury Campus,  left her family’s Syosset home on the morning of Feb. 24 and has not returned.

Police say she called her parents at 5:17 p.m. and told them she was headed to the NYIT campus to study at the college library. But NYIT officials say Joseph is no longer enrolled at the school and hasn’t been a student since May 2013.

NYIT sent out an email to students on Feb. 27 about Joseph’s disappearance.

“The NYIT community has recently learned of the disappearance of one of our former students, Jasmine Joseph, who until May 2013 was a student in the nursing program,” the email reads. “We have been in contact and are cooperating with Jasmine’s family, who are actively seeking her whereabouts. Many students and staff members are helping to spread the word and share photos, in hopes that the public will recognize this young woman and contact her family or the authorities. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.”

Joseph’s family has filed a missing persons report and started a Facebook page called “Jasmine Joseph Is Missing” to aid in the search. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.

Joseph is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, 120 pounds with dark brown eyes and long black hair.

She was last seen wearing white and black sneakers, black jeans and a green sweater. She drives a silver 2012 Nissan Altima license plate number GAD3453.

If you have any information on Joseph’s whereabouts please call the Nassau County Police Department’s Missing Persons Squad at 516-573-7347 or dial 911.
