Breast Cancer Support Group

The Women’s Therapy Center, 54 Sunnyside Blvd. in Plainview, hosts a free breast cancer support group at 7 p.m. Facilitated by cancer specialist Jennifer Kolton, LCSW, this group is open to women who are newly diagnosed, in active treatment and those living life after breast cancer. This group is a safe and confidential place to discuss cancer experiences and meet other women learning to live a full life even after a breast cancer diagnosis. Rabbi Rafi Rank Speaks

The Town of Oyster Bay Hadassah hosts Rabbi Rafi Rank of the Midway Jewish Center as he comes to the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., at 7 p.m. to discuss “Our Children, Grandchildren and Their Bubbies: Navigating the Wacky World of Religious Identity in the 21st Century.” Coffee and cake will be served after the presentation.

Game Changers

Residents are welcomed to this event at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library from 2 to 4 p.m. In this program, Game Changers with Dr. Bill Thierfelder features “Founding Mothers” and explores the women of the American Revolution who helped change the course of history. Advocacy Training

The ELIJA School in Levittown will be holding a workshop with Pete Wright Esq. on March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wrightslaw special education law and advocacy training programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, advocates, attorneys, educators, health care providers, and others who represent the interest of children with disabilities and their families. The training program will focus on four areas, including: special education law, tests and measuring progress and regression, SMART IEP’s, and strategies and tactics for effective advocacy.

The Mid-Island Y JCC, 45 Manetto Hill Rd., invites all to its Casino Night at 8 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the completion of the Y’s children’s playground and a new outdoor sports complex for all ages. Active Parenting Of Teens

Families In Action is a six session family program developed around the premise that parents and teens are more likely to learn successfully when they learn together. Teens and parents will spend part of the time in separate groups learning complementary skills and then come together for discussion of the skills learned. The YES Community Counseling Center will be holding this six session Active Parenting of Teens: Families in Action program on March 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the YES offices, located at 152 Center Lane in Levittown. Getting It Together: Three One-Act Plays

The Township Theatre Group presents “Getting It Together: Three One-Act Plays” at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library at 8 p.m. It is a program with a little drama, a little mystery and a lot of humor with acts including Some Assembly Required by Linda Delmonico Prussen, Mother’s Day by Donald Steele and Living Arrangements by Laura Pedersen.

Cupcake Party

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., hosts a teen program with ever-blossom flower chocolate cupcakes. This program for children in grades five through 12, allos tweens and teens to create yummy chocolate cupcakes using butter cream, vanilla, chocolate, wafer cookies and a dollup of fondant in the center. Cardiac Kids Heart Hero

The American Heart Association, 125 East Bethpage Rd. in Plainview, hosts a Cardiac Kids event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In attendance will be 2013 Long Island Heart Walk ambassadors Gabriella and Gianna Eaderoso, who, along with their parents, will share their story and introduce the 2014 Long Island Heart Walk ambassador, Jack Foley. A light brunch and refreshments will be served. There will also be prizes and give-a-ways. Clutterers Anonymous (CLA)

A 12-step self-help group, offers help and support to those who have clutter problems in their homes or workplace. Meets at the following locations: Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 265 Asbury Ave., Westbury first and third Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the School of the Community Reformed Church, 90 Plandome Rd., Manhasset.
