A 54-year-old man was fatally struck by a car while walking in his hometown of Great Neck over the weekend.
Nassau County police said a 71-year-old man was driving a Lexus westbound on Old Mill Road when he lost control, drove onto the sidewalk, struck a street sign pole and then hit Adrian Vasquez, who was walking eastbound at 9:35 a.m. Sunday.
The victim was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide Squad detectives impounded the car for safety inspection while the investigation is continuing.
