Have you gone to your local mailbox recently to mail a letter only to find it gone? I have. I went to three other known mailbox sites only to find them gone too.
I called the post office and was told they were removed because people were injured. Really? Unless they tried to climb into the mailbox, I don’t think the mailbox assaulted them.
When asked where do I mail letters now, I was given no answer. I don’t want to drive to the post office every time I need to mail something and what do people do if they don’t drive? Many times, the carriers do not take mail left for them to mail by the homeowner.
Mailboxes have been around forever and it’s time to put them back for the conveince of the public. Notify your local officials and tell them we need our mailboxes back.
