Everyone’s favorite characters came to life in The Wizard of Oz at Harry B. Thompson Middle School in Syosset on March 13 and 14.
Honoring the 75th anniversary of the production, more than 75 students were involved in the show, which was directed by Jody Bassuk, with musical direction by Harriet Dolgon and Ethan Fine as stage manager.
Special cameos included Adele Diamond and Principal James Kassebaum as the guards to the gate of Emerald City.
The talented cast featured Madison Schatz as Dorothy, Nick Socci as Scarecrow, Joseph O’Brien as Tinman, Jason Debel as Lion, Barri Levitt as Wicked Witch, Grace Mittleman as Glinda, Kelly Friedman as Auntie Em, Connor O’Brien as Uncle Henry, Nathan Jainhill as Professor Marvel and Andre Kirkorian as the Wizard. Other students kept the energy moving as munchkins, enchanted trees, singing crows, jitterbugs and winkies.
