Easter Egg Hunt For Pre-K To Grade 5

The Garden City Recreation Department is once again sponsoring the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at Community Park’s fields. This Year Three hunt will be held at 10 a.m. sharp with three age divisions: preschool to kindergarten, grades 1 and 2; and grades 3 to 5.

Special eggs will be stuffed and hidden for all divisions. Each hunt will also feature a grand prize (an Easter basket filled with goodies) which will go to the youngster who finds the egg marked “#1 Lucky Egg.” For further information about the hunt, please call the recreation department at 516-465-4075.

Platform Tennis

The recreation and parks department will offer beginner level platform tennis lessons at Community Park’s platform courts on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. This six-week course will offer the basic instruction and will be taught by our certified platform instructor Sue Tarzian. Each class will be 1.5 hours in length. The cost of this program is $225. Classes began on April 9. This program is for beginners only and participants must be Garden City residents.

Spring Youth Tennis

The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks Tennis Center is pleased to announce the start of registration for its spring program. Spring Tennis classes are offered to Garden City residents ages 4 through 11 years old.  All classes will begin the week of Monday, April 21. The following classes are still available (all classes are 55 minutes long):

Mondays – April 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19, June 2, 9

3 p.m. Tots (beginner lessons for ages 4 – 5) $105

5 p.m. Junior (beginner lessons for ages 8-11) $165

Tuesdays- April 22, 29 May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10

3 p.m. Tots $120

4 p.m. Tots  $120

Wednesdays – April 23, 30 May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4, 11

Garden City Recreation And Parks And U.S. Sports Institute Team Up Again

Garden City’s Department of Recreation and Parks is pleased to announce that they are again working with U.S. Sports Institute to offer a wonderful variety of programs for ages 3 to 13 this spring and summer. All programs are now available on the U.S. Sports Institute’s website at www.ussportsinstitute.com.

Spring Sports Squirts Offerings

There are limited spots available in the US Sports Institute’s Spring Squirts classes for 3–7 year olds. Classes are available on Monday and Tuesday afternoons in T-ball, soccer, and MultiSports. Classes begin the week of April 21 and run for eight weeks. U.S. Sports Institute “Parent And Child” Classes Registration Begins

There are limited spots available in the US Sports Institute’s Spring Parent and Me classes for 2–3 year olds. Classes are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays  in soccer and multisports. Classes begin the week of April 21 and run for eight weeks. Spring Adult Yoga

Certified yoga instructor Connie McKnight has designed adult yoga classes with all ages in mind. Classes are open to both men and women.  Each class in our sessions is one hour long. Any resident of the Incorporated Village of Garden City is invited to join these relaxing classes.  

The course schedule is as follows:

Yoga For All : Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul’s Senior Center beginning April 21. (8 weeks due to holidays, $52

Intermediate Yoga: Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall began April 9. (10 weeks, $65)

Beginner Yoga: Wednesdays at 9 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall began April 9. (10 weeks, $65)
