Clear skies welcomed the third annual Family Run-4-Fun Day at the Schreiber High School track.
The event focused on the importance of physical activity and nutrition and drew a large crowd of 80 families (with 160 kids). Port teachers, school staff, 40 student volunteers, the Port Viking mascot and a very special guest, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Derrick Adkins (400-meter hurdles), all joined the fun.
The Port Washington Education Foundation (PWEF) is proud to have funded this program which is a collaboration between all Port elementary school physical education teachers: Megaera Regan, Brandy Miller, Richard Miglietta, Mike Cain, Kathy Doughty, Sean Dooley, Lauren Bishar and Jeanine Fallon.
This year, PWEF will fund 33 projects reaching Port Washington students in all grades and in all subjects. For information, log onto: www.PWEF.org.
