Astoria Federal Savings, with a branch at 50 Jackson Ave. in Syosset, has changed its name to Astoria Bank.
Established in 1888, the company is now the second largest thrift depository headquartered in New York — and one of the largest banks in the United States, according to its website. Despite the heft and the new name, the company says it remains committed to its local, community-oriented approach.
