Second-graders at Walt Whitman Elementary School in the Syosset Central School District performed in the “Free to Be You and Me” concert on June 11 in front of parents and family members. They performed songs about freedom, acceptance, love and tolerance, including “Free to Be You and Me,” “Parents Are People,” “Sisters and Brothers,” “Helping,” “It’s Alright to Cry,” “When We Grow Up” and “Glad to Have a Friend Like You.”
The students have been rehearsing the songs in music and their regular classrooms for more than a month in preparation of the performance, which is an annual event at the school for second-graders.
