Brooklyn Bridge: Monument In Stone & Steel
This illustrated lecture given by author John B. Manbeck, Brooklyn Borough Historian between 1993-2002 and professor Emeritus, is about the development and construction of the Brooklyn Bridge and shows how 19th century pioneers overcame natural hindrances to create “The Eighth Wonder of the Modern World.” Syosset Public Library, 2 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Beauty & The Beast
A play for children with autism and autism-spectrum disorders and their families. The play will run one hour and the entire family is invited for a fun, lively, musical performance. The production will be specially designed and adapted by Plaza Productions, Inc., and will be held in the library theater. A calming corner and coping tools will be available during the performance to assist families, if necessary. Endless Summer: Visions of Long Island Opens

The Real Downton Abbey

Zentangle Workshop
Zentangle is “mindful doodling” and is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images on paper using an ink pen from repetitive patterns. Each participant will enjoy learning the basic Zentangle concept and several simple designs and then complete a Zentangle on a tile of handmade Italian calligraphic paper using Micron pigment ink pens. Meet Mr. Met
Citi announced it will host the first Mr. Met Fan Tour at Citibank Branches across the Tri-State area. The tour will provide Citi customers with a fun-filled experience alongside Mr. Met, New York’s beloved mascot. Select events at Citibank branches will also be hosted by Mets Alumni and SNY Broadcasters Ron Darling or Keith Hernandez and include meet-and-greets, photo opportunities and free promotional giveaways. The event will promote this year’s Battle of the Broadcasters, a new SNY television special that will pit the SNY broadcast crew against the 710 WOR Mets radio team. Carolyn Sheehan Collagraph Prints
Collagraphy is a printmaking process in which materials are applied to a rigid substance such as cardboard. The plate or board is inked and the board is used to print onto paper or fabric using a printing press. This series of prints was born out of Carolyn Sheehan’s interest in the biological forms of plants and flowers. Syosset Public Library, On view from August 4 through August 28. Reception: August 9, 2-4 p.m. Free and open to the public.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Long Island Meeting
Syosset Hospital will host a support group for people with multiple sclerosis each Saturday in the month of August from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This support group will take place in the hospital’s doctor’s lounge. For more information, contact Marissa at 631-864-8337.
