Nassau County police are investigating an armed home invasion in Roosevelt in which a suspect shot at a sleeping couple and then pistol-whipped a man on Tuesday evening.

A 36-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were sleeping in a bedroom of an East Roosevelt Avenue home when a gunman kicked in the door and fired one shot from a handgun at 5:26 p.m., police said.

The man tried to tackle the suspect, who then struck the victim in the head with the gun.

The victim suffered a laceration to the head. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect fled was last seen running eastbound on East Roosevelt Avenue.
