Board of Ed Meeting

The Hicksville Board of Education will have a meeting at 8:30 p.m. in the administration building.

Back to School Night

The high school holds its back to school night at 7 p.m.

Pasta Dinner Fundraiser

William M. Gouse Jr. VFW Post 3211 and the parents of troop 3211 are hosting a pasta dinner fundraiser to benefit Troop 3211 of Hicksville. The dinner includes pasta, meatballs, salad, bread and beverages. There will also be raffles and a 50/50. Tickets are $10. Family super saver tickets (for two adults and up to four children) is $35. Children under 3 are free. Tickets will be sold at the door and can also be purchased by calling 516-939-2287. From 4 to 7 p.m. 

 

Bike Safety Rodeo 

Parkway Community Church will be hosting a free bike safety rodeo program for kids in kindergarten through junior high. The event is sponsored by the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety. All participants must bring their bike and be accompanied by an adult. Free helmets and reflecterized vests will be distributed. Registration is necessary. From 9 a.m. to noon (rain or shine) at 95 Stewart Ave. For more information, call 516-938-1233.

 

Garage Sale

The Women’s Mission League will be holding a garage sale at 33 Winding Road in Hicksville. There will be knick knacks, jewelry and assorted treasures. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; rain or shine.

Car Show and Cookoff

Hicksville Fire Department Hose Company 4 will host a car show and cook off at Cantiague Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. $5 spectators, children under 12 free, $20 show vehicles. Enjoy raffles, prizes, food and refreshments. For more information visit www.nyautofest.com

 

Car Wash

Trinity Lutheran School Athletics will have a car wash at the school parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. $5 for cars; $8 for vans/SUVs/trucks. The Trinity Student Advocate Club will be raising money for a new volleyball net and other athletic equipment. Volunteers are welcome. Speed Dating

Adult Education Classes Begin

The Adult Continuing Education program offered by Hicksville Public Schools provides opportunities and activities to promote lifelong learning. Discover opportunities to grow academically, personally and professionally. Consider coming out in the evening to enjoy the company of other adults as a community of learners exploring new interests and strengthening present ones.
