Town Sports Shifts To Youth Hockey

It’s almost time to hit the ice again.

The Town of Oyster Bay Youth Ice Hockey Program will hold its registration on Monday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. on both nights. Registration takes place at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage.

“The Youth Ice Hockey Program provides youngsters, ages three to 13, with the opportunity to hone their skating and hockey skills under the guidance of ice hockey coaches,” Councilman Joe Pinto stated. “The highly regarded program has earned it recognition by the NHL, which has partnered with the Town to promote hockey programming and youth enrichment through its ‘Hockey is For Everyone’ initiative.”

Registrants must bring a copy of their birth certificate, proof of Town of Oyster Bay residency (canceled check, utility bill, etc.) and a check or money order (no cash). All registrants must bring these items, even if they have participated in the past. A parent or legal guardian must be present at registration.

Registration fees are as follows: Tot Hockey: $200 for one child being registered (plus $125 for each additional child in the same family), and the Youth Hockey Clinic: $275 for one child being registered (plus $125 for each additional child in the same family).

The program is available for players born between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 31, 2010 according to the standards below:

Tot Hockey: Jan. 1, 2009 to Dec. 31, 2011

Mini-Mites: Jan. 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2008

Mites: Jan. 1, 2005 to Dec. 31, 2006

Squirts: Jan. 1, 2003 to Dec. 31, 2004

Pee Wees: Jan. 1, 2001 to Dec. 31, 2002
