The Hicksville School District’s new teachers were welcomed to their new homes prior to the start of the September Board of Education meeting.
The new educators were celebrated first with a group reception and then each was presented with a school district pin, a Hicksville tradition.
The reception, attended by administrators, school principals, fellow teachers and board of education members, gave the district’s newest educators an opportunity to connect and mingle with their colleagues.
“During the time that I have served as interim superintendent, I have been a part of so many wonderful traditions here at Hicksville Schools,” Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carl Bonuso said. “It’s really special and the caliber of people I work with everyday is just phenomenal.”
At the board meeting that followed, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Marianne Litzman and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessments Susan Guiliano presented an overview of the district’s standardized testing results, noting that on average, the district scored higher than the county average.
