Roslyn Alum Is Tops In NEC

After a stellar career at Roslyn High School, where she earned All County honors, Roslyn resident Talia Schwartz is continuing her excellence on the soccer field for Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn. At the midway point of the NCAA Division 1 women’s soccer season, Schwartz, the starting goalkeeper for Sacred Heart, is ranked as one of the top goalies in the NCAA’s Northeast Conference (NEC).

According the NEC statistics, Schwartz is ranked No. 1 in the conference in total shutouts, #1 in lowest goals against average, No. 1 in least goals allowed and #3 in save percentage. After securing consecutive victories against Brown University and Dartmouth College in the past two games,

Sacred Heart is ranked third in the Northeast Conference and is now preparing for conference play. Schwartz is a senior at Sacred Heart and was named one of the team captains for 2014 season.

At Roslyn High School, Schwartz played goalkeeper, notching the most saves in a season among all players in Nassau County in 2010 and earning All County honors that year, also. She was named to the Newsday All Long Island Team and was the recipient of the Howie Gold Most Valuable Goalkeeper award in 2010.
