On Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m., Yossi Klein Halevi, author of the award-winning book Like Dreamers: The Story of the Israeli Paratroopers Who Reunited Jerusalem and Divided a Nation, will speak at Temple Sinai of Roslyn. Halevi, an American-born Israeli, is a world-renowned author, thinker and commentator on Jewish and Israeli affairs.

His talk, which will focus on co-existence between Jews and Muslims is titled “Why Can’t We All Get Along: Why the Peace Process Keeps Failing And How to Get it to Work.”

In Like Dreamers, Halevi interweaves the stories of a group of 1967 paratroopers who reunited Jerusalem.
“Like Dreamers is one of the finest books on modern Israel ever written,” said Rabbi Michael White of Temple Sinai. “This work chronicles the lives of the paratroopers who liberated the Western Wall during the Six Day War. Their divergent paths help us see and understand the rich, colorful mosaic of modern Israeli life. Yossi’s talk will be memorable, engaging and important.”

Like Dreamers, winner of the top prize in the 2013 National Jewish Book Awards, is a riveting, nuanced, in-depth look at these men and the conflicting beliefs that have helped to define modern Israel and the Middle East. There will be a discussion and book signing and books will be available for purchase.

The community is welcomed to attend. This program is free to Temple Sinai members and $10 for non-members. Temple Sinai of Roslyn is located at 425 Roslyn Rd., Roslyn Heights. For more information, contact Ethel Liebeskind at 516-621-6800 or visit the website at www.mysinai.org.
