Movie: The Fault in Our Stars
Come to the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library auditorium for two showings at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. of The Fault in Our Stars. Adapted from John Green’s best-selling novel, the film follows Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley), a sixteen-year-old cancer patient who is forced by her parents to attend a support group, where she subsequently meets and falls in love with Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort). Starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Laura Dern and Willem Dafoe. (2014, PG-13 126 min).

Free Flu-Vaccines
Did you get your flu shot yet? If you are a resident and/or member of Somerset Gardens, stop by today between 10 a.m and 1 p.m. to receive a free flu-vaccination shot, provided by Partners in Care, a private home care service from the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. Somerset Gardens is located at 150 Sunnyside Blvd., Plainview.
Open House for Bethpage Parks
New York State Parks will hold a public workshop and open house regarding the preparation of a Trails Plan for Bethpage and Trail View State Parks. State Parks encourage the public to participate in the planning effort and welcomes all comments, accepted until Nov. 14. The meeting will be held at the Bethpage Clubhouse Lenox Room today from 4-8 p.m. There will be a brief presentation about the trail planning process and the parks at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Staff will also be available to answer questions and receive public comments. Art Exhibit: Watercolors
Marvel at the stunning watercolor paintings from the exhibit “Watercolors of Italy” by artist Tony DiNucci. Trained at the High School of Industrial Art in New York City, DiNucci opts to paint the beauty in nature, often depicting scenes on a beach or pastoral countryside. View some of his collection at the Bethpage Library, located at 47 Powell Ave., Bethpage. The exhibit runs until Nov. 28.

Boy Scouts Open House
The Boy Scouting Open House will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy in Hicksville from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The Boy Scouts of America-Theodore Roosevelt Council of Nassau County is having a county-wide open house for all boys of the ages of 11-18 who are interested in Boy Scouting, and girls and boys who are between the ages of 14 and 20, who are interested in Venturing. Join in this opportunity to see first-hand and discuss with local Troops and crews about Scouting. From ATVs, to archery, rock climbing, summer camping, canoeing, hiking, and more. Family History Workshop
Please join the Mid-Island Y-JCC for the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island’s (JGSLI) 24th annual family history workshop, “Jewish Genealogy 101: Four Hours to Your Family Roots.” The workshop is a half-day course on sources and strategies essential for Jewish Genealogy research and is recommended both for beginners and for family historians who want to brush up or expand their skills. Cost is $55 per person and attendees will receive a flash drive containing the workshop manual. A light lunch of bagels and spreads, coffee and cake, will be served.
