A South Setauket teenager has been arrested for allegedly driving high on drugs and causing a New York State Trooper to crash his patrol car in Farmingdale over the weekend, authorities said.
Christopher Alaimo was driving his Dodge westbound on Route 109 when he made a left turn in the path of the troop car, forcing the trooper to take evasive action and collide with a Ford pick-up truck on Main Street ay 6:19 p.m. Saturday, New York State police said.
The 19-year-old suspect showed signs of intoxication, failed sobriety tests and admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the crash, police said.
Alaimo and was arrested and charged with driving while impaired by drugs and possession of marijuana.
The was treated for wrist and back pain at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage.
