The Great Neck Park District commissioners are considering building a new office. On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Board of Commissioners will hold a business meeting at the Park District Office, 5 Beach Rd., at 8 p.m. One item on the agenda will be to discuss the proposed new Park District Office at 5 Beach Rd., one of the projects authorized under the Park District’s town approved 2014 bond petition. At the meeting, the Park District’s architects will present renderings, plans and information for the new structure.
The existing 79-year old structure was originally converted from a small farmhouse and garage. It must now be replaced to address code violations and deterioration. The existing structure is severely compromised through termite infestation and decay, and is subject to flooding. The electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems are antiquated and inadequate. The structure does not satisfy current ADA standards or building and fire safety codes.
The proposed building is a simple one-story structure with an entrance facing the Village Green and Middle Neck Road. It will be constructed to blend unobtrusively with its surroundings, including the neighboring residential area. The building will be ecologically “green” and will include solar panels.
All residents and neighbors are invited to attend.
