The Syosset community responded with great generosity when North Shore Synagogue asked for donations for this very worthy event.

North Shore Synagogue, 83 Muttontown Rd. in Syosset, was proud to be an active participant in a large effort that brought perishable and non-perishable food, toiletries and clothing to 100 families in need at the EOC Center in Manhasset, a preschool and after-school government-funded facility for families on or below the poverty level.

The synagogue partnered with Temple Israel and Temple Isaiah, both of Great Neck, in conjunction with TANS (Tikkun Alliance of the North Shore) and UJA, the United Jewish Appeal, which donated funds to be used to purchase fresh produce. This joint event has been providing help to families since 2008.

Under the leadership of Mitzvah Committee co-chairs Patrice Grossman and Ilene Zelniker, members of the congregation and community began gathering items in October. Volunteers from North Shore Synagogue helped in setting up the donated items the day before the EOC doors opened. They were also on hand to assist recipients in selecting food and goods on the day of the event.  Everything was well received and very much appreciated.
