Manhasset residents wo
ke up to accumulations of over an inch of snow on Friday, Jan. 9. Forecasts were calling for snow showers but the precipitation began well before weather.com 7:30 a.m. start.
Roadways were covered and traffic slowed to a crawl. The forecast calls for clearing by this afternoon. In the meantime, temperatures are rising and the snow continues.
Salt trucks are out from the Town of North Hempstead salting surfaces. Main roads are passable, but traffic is heavy and moving slowly.
The temperature is slated to go below freezing this evening making for slippery roadways.
