Police arrested two men in connection with recent burglaries in Flower Hill and Great Neck Estates.
According to detectives, David Jimenez, of Flushing, and Tomas Rios, of the Bronx, were arrested after separate incidents. In the first incident on Oct. 7, 2014, cops said a Great Neck Estates resident spotted Jimenez standing at the front door, then saw Rios in the kitchen. The victim yelled, causing both suspects to flee the scene.
In the second incident on Oct. 28, 2014, two residents in Flower Hill saw Jimenez in their driveway before he took off on a bicycle. Upon entering their home, the victims saw their bedroom had been ransacked. Police responding to the scene located Jimenez on Port Washington Boulevard in Flower Hill—he was also found to be in possession of cocaine, cops said. A following investigation determined Rios to be involved as well, and he was placed under arrest on Jan. 13 in Queens.
Jimenez is charged with second-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He will be charged with a second count of second-degree burglary at a later date. Rios is charged with two counts of second-degree burglary.
