Brennan Named President

Garden City’s Christina Brennan, director of clinical research for cardiovascular services at the North Shore-LIJ Health System, was recently named president-elect of the New York Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). The association is the primary source for clinical research professionals in hospital academic centers, pharmaceutical, medical device industries and biotechnology. Dr. Brennan assumed her new position on Jan. 1 and becomes president of ACRP in 2016.

Prior to joining the health system, Brennan was director of clinical research in cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan for 14 years. Her primary research interest is in endovascular and heart structure. She has authored chapters in textbooks, co-authored many manuscripts and abstracts and has presented at numerous scientific meetings. Brennan earned her MD degree from Windsor University in the West Indies and is currently pursuing an MBA from Hofstra University with an anticipated completion in May 2015.

The U.S. Chapters serve a defined geographic area and help network research professionals in that area. The mission of the chapter is to provide a readily accessible mechanism for regional program development for clinical research professionals and to foster networking. Founded in 2003, the New York Metropolitan Chapter has approximately 300 members. While the majority of the members are from New York City, Westchester and Long Island; members join from as far away as Canada. With Dr. Brennan’s recent election, this is the first time a president of the chapter will represent a Long Island institution.  

ACRP is a global association that was founded in 1976. Headquartered in Alexandria, VA, there are 48 U.S. chapters and 18 international chapters.
