Pet Vet Donates Canine Bullet-Proof Vest

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter announced Feb. 10 that Dr. Ned Horowitz, owner of Massapequa Pet Vet, will donate a canine bullet-proof vest to the Nassau County Police Department K-9 Unit.  This donation will provide proper equipment to protect one of Nassau County’s Police canines.

Massapequa Pet Vet along with other local businesses and individuals sponsor a yearly charity auction at their Barktoberst, a family and pet-friendly event open to all members of the community.  This year the staff at Massapequa Pet Vet chose to donate a portion of their funds to protecting a Nassau County police dog with a bullet-proof vest.

“I thank Dr. Horowitz and his staff at Massapequa Pet Vet for their generous donation,” said Mangano.  “Police canines are an essential part of the Nassau County Police Department and this donation will assist in providing one of our canines with the equipment necessary for their protection.”

“Our K-9 Unit plays a very important role in the Nassau County Police Department and these vests provide our police dogs added protection as they work alongside our officers,” said Krumpter.  “I thank Dr. Horowitz and his staff for this generous donation to the Department.”
