Karl M. Schweitzer was recently inducted as chairman of the Hicksville Water District Board of Commissioners during a public board meeting. In addition, Commissioner Nicholas Brigandi was selected as treasurer and Commissioner William Schuckmann as secretary.
“I’ve been involved with the Hicksville Water District for more than 10 years and it is an honor to be appointed as chairman this year,” said Schweitzer. “As a lifetime Hicksville resident, I look forward to leading the board of commissioners and ensuring that Hicksville residents get the highest quality water supply possible.”
Schweitzer has devoted his career to environmental health and safety. In addition to serving on the Hicksville Water District Board of Commissioners since 2003, Schweitzer has served on the legislative board of the Long Island Commission for Aquifer Protection (LICAP), received appointments at a national level with the American Water Works Association and served as past chairman of the Long Island Water Conference.
“As chairman, I will continue to focus on protecting Hicksville’s groundwater resources and ensuring environmental health and safety in the community. I look forward to another successful year with my fellow board members,” said Schweitzer.
