Israeli Movie Night

The JCC welcomes the community for a screening of Dark Side. In this film, 86-year-old Moshe Knebel appears to be a regular grandfather. Maybe a tad sturdier and stronger than most, but still a normal old man. Knebel, however, is anything but ordinary. He took revenge. Today, years later, he decides to take his three children back to his village in Poland, and tell them his story, the one with the dark side.

Conversations With Music

Bethpage library hosts Harvey Granat, a cabaret singer and professor of American Music History, as he presents a program on Irving Berlin. At 2 p.m., Granat will once again bring alive “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “God Bless America,” “Always,” “White Christmas,” “Easter Parade” and other hits galore. Get set to enjoy a fabulous afternoon.

Movie: Million Dollar Arm

The Bethpage library presents a 2 p.m. showing of the film Million Dollar Arm. This sports drama is based on the true story of Indian cricket players Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, who were discovered by agent J. B. Bernstein, using an unconventional recruitment strategy to get them to play Major League Baseball. Starring John Hamm, Pitobash and Suraj Sharma. Rated R. 122 minutes.

Live At The Library

The Bethpage library welcomes Plaza Theatrical Productions and it presents Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite live on stage at 2 p.m. Neil Simon’s hilarious comedy is set in Suite 719 of New York City’s Plaza Hotel. This duo of comic stories bears Simon’s trademark humor, sophistication and wry insight into the complex nature of human relationships. As always the very talented troupe of players of Plaza Theatrical Productions presents a wonderful afternoon of theater, so come and enjoy a theatrical treat.

Movie: Dolphin Tale 2

The Plainview library presents one showing at 2:30 p.m. of Dolphin Tale 2. In this heartwarming sequel to the 2011 hit film, the team of people who saved the life of Winter, the dolphin with the damaged tail, reassembles after the death of Winter’s surrogate mother. Their challenge is to find her a companion so she can remain at the Clearwater marine Hospital. Starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr. Rated PG. 1 hour 47 minute.

Love, Loss And What I Wore

The Plainview library welcomes the Lantern Theatre as it presents Love, Loss And What I Wore, by Nora and Delia Ephron. The off-Broadway hit that uses clothing, accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to. Whether you are a male or female, you’ll have a lighthearted and enjoyable evening. The play will be presented in a reader’s theater format, using scripts on stage. Event is at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.

Make A Cinnamon Roll

Come to the Bethpage library and join Kathy to make delicious cinnamon rolls. After a demonstration participants will individually make their dough from scratch and add the cinnamon and other ingredients to make an amazing cinnamon roll. They will bring them home on a tray to bake and enjoy them as a dessert. Sign up now before this fills. Event is from 2 to 3 p.m. in the meeting room and kitchen.

Men’s Comedy Night

Temple Or Elohim welcomes the community to its Men’s Comedy Night at 7 p.m. The event features a buffet dinner followed by the keen observations of four comedians: Dr. Harry Freedman, Maria Walsh, Teddy Smith and Scott Schendlinger. Organ Concert

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 99 Central Park Rd. in Plainview, is proud to present Amelia Javorina for a very special organ concert at 4 p.m. An accomplished organist, pianist, music theory instructor, and choral director with more than 25 years of experience in teaching children and adults, Javorina has performed both solo and chamber music concerts throughout Europe. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria, as well as the Conservatoire de Musique, in Geneva, Switzerland. Tickets: $7 in advance; $10 at the door; ages 16 and under: free; ages 90 and older: free.
