On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Hicksville Veterans of Foreign Wars, William M. Gouse Jr. Post 3211 celebrated their 80th anniversary with a dinner and dance at their Post. Despite the forecast of snow and wintry temperatures, over 75 individuals, including VFW members, community members, veteran’s organization members, Hicksville Civic organization members, and elected officials attended the event.
Representatives from U.S. 3rd District Congressman Steve Israel, State Assemblyman Mike Montesano, State Senator Jack Martins, and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s offices, along with Nassau County Legislators Rose Walker and Laura Schaefer, Town of Oyster Bay officials Councilman Anthony Macagnone, and Receiver of Taxes Jim Stefanich attended to congratulate the members of the Hicksville VFW for their service to the community and its veterans.
In honor of Valentines Day, all the women attending received a pink or red rose. One of the highlights of the evening was Commander William Walden receiving a plaque from the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club President Harry Single Jr. thanking the Post for their support to their great organization. The officers and members of the Hicksville Veterans of Foreign Wars would like to thank the Hicksville community and our elected officials in making the dinner and 80th commemorative journal a complete success.
