Promotion_022715AThe YMCA of Long Island (YMCALI) recently announced the promotion of Eileen Knauer from regional vice president to senior vice president and chief operating officer. In her new role, Knauer will be responsible for the oversight and strategic vision of YMCALI, providing strong support to drive member engagement for all five YMCALI branches. She will continue to lead myriad YUSA and YMCALI strategic initiatives and ensure consistency and continuity in all core strategic program areas.
Knauer, a Massapequa native, began her career as a part-time employee in aquatics at the Huntington YMCA and progressed through numerous levels of leadership in Huntington, including fitness director, director of programs, director of operations, associate executive director, executive director, and most recently, regional vice president.

During Eileen’s 23-year career with YMCALI, she continues to be a tireless advocate and role model for healthy living and has championed many signature programs, such as our Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Program and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA,” said Anne Brigis, YMCALI president and CEO. “We are excited to move forward as Eileen spearheads the advancement of the YMCA of Long Island’s strategic plan and vision of making an impact on the lives of all Long Islanders.”
