Levittown Man Charged With Hit-and-run in Road Rage Feud

A man was arrested for allegedly hitting a 22-year-old woman with his car and then fleeing the scene following a road rage confrontation in his hometown of Levittown on Thursday morning, Nassau County police said.

Robert W. Anderson was charged with assault, criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident.

Second Squad detectives said the 58-year-old man was driving his Ford Taurus westbound on Hempstead Turnpike when he “became involved in an incident” with a 22-year-old woman driving a Ford Mustang at 11:10 a.m.

Anderson allegedly started following the victim aggressively, but when the victim stopped for a traffic light at the corner of Hamlet Road, he failed to stop and rear-ended the victim’s car, police said.

When the victim got out of her car to take a photo of the suspect’s car, he drove his car into her knees as he fled the scene, police said. A witness followed Anderson and alerted police to his location, authorities said.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor neck and knee injuries. Anderson will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
