North Shore-LIJ Health System recently announced new upgrades for Plainview Hospital.
Patients living near Plainview Hospital don’t have to travel far for state-of-the-art, high-quality care now that the hospital has opened its new, interventional radiology suite, according to hospital officials.
In addition to the new suite, the $1 million project at Plainview Hospital includes revamping its three recovery rooms, offering a more patient-centered experience.
“This suite is a great asset to both Plainview Hospital and the community,” said Michael Fener, executive director of Plainview and Syosset hospitals. “Having this high-quality technology available to the Plainview area will bring greater convenience to people in the local communities who need to have these tests and procedures.”
This suite enables doctors to view detailed 3D images through the use of an innovative angiographic X-ray machine. The new technology enhances the image quality for the Plainview Hospital interventional radiology team while performing neurological, cardiovascular, and endovascular procedures. It also enables the team to perform most studies with significantly lower radiation levels without compromising image quality.
“Patients are now able to receive state-of-the-art care in our interventional radiology suite close to their homes,” said Melonie Longacre, RT, administrative director of radiology at Plainview Hospital.
The suite will be used for both inpatient and outpatient procedures. For information about the interventional radiology suite, call 516-719-2309.
