A 50-year-old man died and two others were wounded in a Roosevelt house fire early Friday morning, authorities said.
Nassau County police and firefighters responded to the blaze on Debevoise Avenue, where they found the victim dead on the second floor at 2:20 a.m., officials said. His identity was not immediately available.
Two others jumped from the second floor to escape. They suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
More than 100 firefighters responded to help the Roosevelt Fire Department extinguish the flames, including North Merrick, Baldwin, South Hempstead, Uniondale, Merrick, Freeport and North Bellmore.
The Red Cross responded to assist the 10 residents that were left homeless.
Arson/Bomb Squad detectives are continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire, which preliminarily appears to be non-suspicious and caused by an overloaded electrical connection.
