Ella & Frank: A Tribute
In this moving performance at the Plainview library, Rhonda Denet teams up with “Echos of Sinatra” vocalist Steve Kazlauskas for a show that brings audiences back to a time when two legends of American music, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, brought audiences to their feet. Rhonda and Steve will sing the music of Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, George & Ira Gershwin and others, as they perform individual solos and duets made famous by Frank and Ella. Event is at 8 p.m.

China’s First Emperor
The Plainview library invites attendees to audio-visual presentation on the first emperor of China Qin Shi Huang and the Qin Dynasty at 2 p.m. Led by art collector and lecturer Ivy Chang, the lecture will enlighten attendees on Qin Shi Huang (260 B.C. to 210 B.C.) During the 37 year Qin Dynasty, major reforms were enacted and many significant landmarks were created, including the Great Wall. Event is rescheduled from Feb. 9.

Taize Service
Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 99 Central Park Rd. in Plainview, welcomes attendees to a special service. A Taize service is a candle-lit service that is meditative in nature. It consists of quiet singing (short songs repeated again and again), scripture, silence for meditating (a time to reflect on whatever word or phrase touches ones heart) and prayer. Long Island Reads
Each April during National Library Week, book lovers in Nassau and Suffolk counties come together to read the same book in an island-wide initiative called Long Island Reads. The Plainview library showcases this year’s author, Alice Hoffman and her novel, The Museum of Extraordinary Things. Mesmerizing and illuminating, Alice Hoffman’s book is the story of an electric and impassioned love between two vastly different souls in New York during the volatile first decades of the 20th century. With its colorful crowds of bootleggers, heiresses, thugs and idealists, New York itself becomes a riveting character as Hoffman weaves her trademark magic and masterful storytelling. Hoffman discusses her book at 2 p.m.

Long Island Stock Traders Group
The Plainview library hosts Alan Ellman, founder and CEO of Plainview’s The Blue Collar Investor, for an in-depth presentation covering three skills needed to be an elite option-seller: selection of the best underlying security, selection of the most appropriate option to sell and position management. A Q&A session will follow the presentation. Selling cash-secured puts is a conservative options strategy geared to retail investors. It is similar to covered call writing with some slight differences. The strategy can be used to generate monthly cash flow, purchase a stock at a discount (in lieu of placing a limit order) and in conjunction with covered call writing to create a multi-tiered option-selling, cash-generating business. Movie: A Hole In The Head
The Plainview library presents two showings, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., of the classic film A Hole In The Head. When widower Tony Manetta (Frank Sinatra) can’t meet the payments on his unsuccessful Miami hotel, he reaches out to his more responsible brother Mario (Edward G. Robinson) and his wife (Thelma Ritter) to bail out him and his 12 year-old son once again. But this time Mario insists on some unexpected conditions before he will lend Tony any money. 2 hours (Unrated).

High Tea At St. Margaret’s Church
Wear your best hat and gloves (or not) and enjoy an afternoon of fine teas, scones, finger sandwiches and sweet treats at St. Margaret’s 11th annual High Tea. Two spring boutiques will offer delightful items for loved ones (or yourself). Sobornost for the World Foundation will sponsor Fair Trade assortment with proceeds going to support children across the globe, and there will also be plants, jewelry, birdhouses and more for sale. Theater: Man Of La Mancha
The Plainview library welcomes attendees to experience the remarkable story of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, as they tilt at windmills and fight to right all wrongs, in this fully staged production of the famed Broadway musical. The award-winning score features The Impossible Dream, Dulcinea and I’m Only Thinking Of Him. Plaza Theatrical Productions presents the fully-staged production at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.
