Resurrection Women Come Up Green
The Women’s Ministry of Resurrection Lutheran Church recently announced its 9th annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. Prepare to purchase high quality perennials, annuals, ornamental grasses, flowering baskets, herbs and vegetables all provided by a Long Island grower. New selections include Boston ferns and the highly-touted Big Bounce Impatiens, known to be mildew-resistant and adaptive to both shade and sun. This event is just in time to make purchases for the special women in your life or to begin planting your summer garden. Since its inception in 2006, all plant sale proceeds have gone to several organizations benefiting wounded and recovering military troops: Bethesda Naval Hospital, The Walter Reed Society and Building Homes for Heroes. This year’s recipient organization is The Independence Fund through which a deserving serviceman or woman will receive an all-terrain wheelchair. This vehicle typically costs in the vicinity of $16,000 and will enable a severely injured soldier to be more independent. Resurrection Lutheran Church is a multi-site Christian community of faith, with the main campus located at 420 Stewart Ave., near Clinton Road in Garden City. All are invited to worship at 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday mornings, with Christian education at 10 a.m. Staffed nursery is available Sunday mornings.
