Plaza Sets Parking Meeting

PlazaParkong_042215AThe Great Neck Plaza Village board of trustees will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, May 6 at 8 p.m., to consider a draft report and recommendations of Level G Associates, LLC, a parking consultant firm, with regard to the village’s on-street parking meters and lots. Gerard Giosa, a principal of Level G Associates, will be present at the May 6 meeting to outline their draft findings and recommendations, which are posted on-line and available on the village’s website at www.greatneckplaza.net. Copies of the report will also be available at Village Hall.

Giosa has extensive experience in downtown business districts and has performed diverse parking and transportation assignments, including the following Long Island communities: Rockville Centre, Garden City, Roslyn, Oyster Bay, Long Beach, Patchogue and Bay Shore, among others. Level G Associates was engaged by the Village of Great Neck Plaza to investigate the village’s various parking spaces and to develop strategies designed to improve parking conditions and the parking experience in the downtown. Stated Plaza Mayor Jean Celender: “With Mr. Giosa and his firm’s vast knowledge of parking management strategies, the Board felt hiring a parking expert to advise the board on ways to improve metered parking opportunities was a prudent course of action. We are looking to achieve greater turnover of our metered parking spaces and enable shoppers and visitors to more easily find accessible parking spaces.”

All interested residents, business owners and others are encouraged to review the draft report available on-line, or at Village Hall and to come learn about Level G Associates’ study and recommendations and to provide input to the village board on May 6.
