A 17-year-old pedestrian who was hit by an SUV while walking along an avenue in her hometown of Deer Park on Saturday night has died.

Suffolk County police said Shakira Wilson was walking westbound on Long Island Avenue when she was struck by a westbound Lexus SUV shortly after 8 p.m.

The victim was taken to to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was listed in critical condition with a serious head injury before she died Sunday morning.

The driver, 67-year-old Joseph Ulysse of Wheatley Heights, suffered minor injuries.
Wilson’s 21-year-old sister, who was walking with her, was not injured.

First Squad detectives impounded the truck, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about the crash to call them at 631-854-8152. All calls will be kept confidential.
